Amazon’s July Summer Sale continues in the UK today, this time with some rather good discounts on Razer’s Blade 15 laptop. Once £1650, the Core i7 / GTX 1660 Ti model of Razer’s super slim gaming laptop is now down to £1200, giving you a saving of £450. And if that’s a bit too rich for your blood, there are also two HP Pavilion laptops on sale for £650 and £750 apiece.
VINDICATION. That’s what Hardspace: Shipbreaker says to me. I have hinted severaltimes that salvage is grossly under-represented in games. And now here’s a game all about it, and it as excellent as I’d hoped.
Despite being an estimate year from release, Hardspace Colon Shipbreaker already gets a lot of things right. But my favourite thing about it is one I didn’t even expect to feel so good: peeling the armour off a ship.
Who doesn’t like a good wibbly robot? The Signal From Tölva is about plunging into the minds of drones as you potter about a sci-fi warzone, dotted with the metallic carcasses of a forgotten civilisation. It drips atmosphere like a too-big spider emerging from a bath.
If Stardew Valley were a flower it would be a perennial, constantly coming back each year with new blooms. Not long after releasing the massive 1.4 update that left a mark on every part of the game, developer ConcernedApe announced that he’d be working on yet another free content update. Over four years on, he’s still got plans for new additions, which will include some endgame content for update 1.5 he says.
Ubisoft’s big not-E3 showcase is scheduled for this Sunday, July 12th where they’ll be showing off new gameplay and trailers for upcoming games. As part of the event, they’re also letting you claim a free copy of Watch Dogs 2 for PC, though you’ll have to be fast. You need to grab it while the show’s live, meaning you’ll have about a 45 minute window to make those dogs yours.
According to a LinkedIn post, Rockstar has a new open world VR game in the works. The developers for L.A. Noire: The VR Case Files say they’re taking on another VR project for Rockstar, though there’s no mention of whether it will be part of an existing Rockstar series or a new one.
If you’re not tired of zombies, the good news is neither are Turtle Rock Studios, the folks behind Left 4 Dead. Last year they announced Back 4 Blood, a triumphant return for the numeral 4 and zombies, but have been quiet about it since. As proof that their project remains undead, Turtle Rock have shuffled out a new concept art image. You can spot the not cropped version below.
and I did not get off to the best start. This is partly because it’s called “Plebby Quest”, a dreadful title that has little to do with the game itself. Neither “plebs” nor questing featuring prominently. Instead, Plebby Quest is more like a diet Crusader Kings, offering a similarly grand medieval strategy in a package less likely to pack on the pounds by rooting you into a chair for several hundred hours.
Alrighty, so as you may or may not be aware, about a month ago The Sims 4 got a massive update ahead of the Eco Lifestyle expansion. As well as adding firefighters, ladders, and Sims peeing fire (which was apparently a bug and not a feature), it added some new Mac makeup for CAS (aka Create a Sim, where you make your digital puppets).
June is over, but we’re not free from FakE3 just yet, folks. Two of the ‘softs, Micro and Ubi, are planning showcases of their upcoming games for July. We’ve already got a date for Ubisoft Forward, and now Microsoft have announced the date for their big announcement bonanza as well. They’ll be showing off all manner of Xbox (and likely PC) games on Thursday, July 23rd.
